In the recording applet whenever i click on the Record Button i get an alert saying "There is no driver installed on your system". What could be the resolution to the same?
I have ensured that no other application is using the Microphone.

1. Which recording applet do you use?

http://www.vimas.com/ve_record_applet_sdk.htm ?
2. Did you teste microphone with other programs? Does it work?

It is strange.. Please, test recording applets on the
http://www.vimas.com/mp3 and
http://www.vimas.com/wav.php
In case of the same problem with these applets, I recommend you to reinstall the sound driver.
