is there a way wherein the user can record several files first on the client side, select a file to listen to and also select a file to upload? I mean, the way the demo applet works now, you can only record one file and upload it. if you record a file without uploading it, and then record another one, the previous one will be overwritten...
is there a way to specify the filename of the local file before it is uploaded? do have any suggestions about how I can go about this?
specify filename during recording?

You can use SAVE method to save recorded audio file on the client computer. So, you can record a few audio files and save them on the client computer. Then, you can open any saved audio file by using OPEN method and upload it to server.
Do you use Mp3 recording applet? Please, download last version of applet http://vimas.com/MP3_RecApplet.zip and try it. If NullPointer exception will appear again, give me the link to your test web page, I will check it.
